rivertown
dreamworld - australia
This project was one of the most significant of my career.
Rivertown is themed land based around a remove jungle outpost. It features the indoor outdoor Jungle Rush coaster from Vekoma. Set in a temple, it features a 3 way track switch, allowing the train to be sent in multiple directions. The zone also features a restaurant, the Murrisippi Motors vintage car ride, as well as a feature crashed plane centerpiece. I played a key role in the project, designing several aspects including.
-Site planning, including the incorporation of an existing dock and preservation of an existing figtree.
-Interior design for the load stations of both rides.
-Designed several scenes, including a bamboo scaffold scene, archeological dig/ workbench and an outdoor camp scene.
-Supervised a team producing all internal props, including statues, water features, light boxes and artificial stone elements. Many elements were handled by myself, I also handled engineering approvals for these elements.
-Concept design for all street furniture and the entry portal
-Designs for SFX: large moving wheels and props in the main ride chamber of jungle rush. These had to be lowerable for maintenance, and operate safely adjacent to the ride envelope.
-Prop buying and on-site art direction.
-Worked on site to propose cost effective, rapid solutions due to unforeseen conditions.
-Developed ‘easter eggs’ and small details based on my knowledge of both the lore of the area and the history of the park.
-Art directed all signage in the precinct (Operational signs, themed graphics)
-Track layout for the car ride (The original design by others was found not to fit the site properly)
-Visualisations, BIM/CAD work and service coordination.
